It’s good to talk
During this last week I’ve had many conversations – you might say I’d expect that of you, it goes with the job – and it’s been good to talk with people for all kinds of reasons.
The conversations have been with many different people – family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, people from church and the stranger on the street – and, thank goodness, many of them have taken place face to face in person, not through the computer screen on zoom; although is still a very useful option we can use.
And the pleasure of being able to sit with another person, or a group of people, and share in conversation over coffee is something we won’t take for granted for some time to come. But I was reminded as well this week that conversation is a two way thing. In order to respond fully to someone we need to be giving them our full attention, to be listening with our heart as well as our ears in order to fully hear what it is they have to say to us.
